Your final blog entry is to summarize your experiences in this course and discuss how it has assisted your well-being and your ability to assist others.
Complete the following and post in your blog:
1. Review your unit 3 personal assessment of your psychological, physical, and spiritual well-being. Reflect on these areas . How did you score yourself on a scale from 1 to 10 in unit 3? How do you score yourself now?
Has the score changed? Why or why not?
On my Unit 3 BLOG dated March 21, 2011 personal assessment of my psychological well-being I scored a 10, physical well-being 8, and spiritual well-being 10.
I know rate my personal assessment of my psychological well-being score as 8 , physical well-being 4, and spiritual well-being 10.
Has the scores changed? Why or why not?
First to my psychological well-being my score has changed because of family issues and death in the family I had to endure this term and this past year that has put a toll on me.
Next, to my physical well-being my score has changed because I didn’t feel I had accomplished the goals that I wanted to do. My plan was to get out and exercise do low cardio, walk. I understand I am unable to do this at this present time. But I get some medical issues cleared I will be ready to go.
In addition, to my spiritual well-being my score has never changed. Because my relationship with my creator is always at a higher level.
2. Review the goals and activities you set for yourself in each area. Have you made progress toward the goals? Explain.
In reference to the physical goal of me going to start jogging . I haven’t started that goal yet. I have some medical clearance I need to get from my doctor’s first. And once I get the go ahead. I will be starting on a slow paste.
Next, to the Spiritual goal of me starting yoga. I haven’t started that goal yet as well. My mom got a yoga tape to relax. So the time that I have off from break I am going to look at the tape and see what I can do.
Then to the Psychologically the goal of me to start journaling. I am trying to find me another journal book to buy.
3. Have you implemented the activities you chose for your well-being in each of the three areas? Explain.
Next, to the Spiritual goal of me starting yoga. During the break I will look over a yoga video carefully first and choose which exercises I can do. One of my doctors recommended yoga.

4. Summarize your personal experience throughout this course. Have you developed improved well-being? What has been rewarding? What has been difficult? How will this experience improve your ability to assist others?
This course has helped me with my ability to re-train myself with visualization, meditation, and journaling.
What has been rewarding for me was the teaching of this course from Professor Dorette and some of the skills that I have learned were how to become more patient, and reduced some of my stress. I also would like to say that reading my classmates blogs each week, getting there feedback, attending seminar and getting my classmates feedback there as well has been rewarding as well.
Was has been difficult for me was learning how to deal with different personal issues and having to deal with family members death and the greiving process while I was in school trying to do work. and still grieve. And I am still grieving.
This experience will give me the strength to be patient, courageous, and brave. I am working in the field of Advocacy for person's with Disabilities. I will have to be a voice for people who dont have a voice.

Unit 8
Review the exercises and practice sessions you have completed in this course. (Loving Kindness, Subtle mind, Visualization, meditation etc.) Choose two practices that you have determined to be most beneficial. How can you implement these practices in your personal life to foster “mental fitness”? Provide specific examples.
The two practices that I feel was most beneficial to me where the visualization and the meditation.
Visualization Process For Me
When it comes to applying "mental fitness" in my personal life when dealing with the visualization practices.
First, example You have to feel comfortable to be able to want to do do visualization exercises. This is not for everyone.
Second,, Example, you have to clear your mind of some of the negative thoughts that are running thru. That can block any postive energy that might be wanting to come out.
Third, Example, Once you are in this visualization process you will feel so much better in the end. Your mind will thank you.
Meditation Process For Me
When it comes to applying "mental fitness" in my personal life when dealing with the Meditation practices.
The first example, when it comes to meditation you have to be able to be still and put your self in another place. At time it is hard for me to do that. I always felt like I had to be doing something. I guess that why I love writing poetry and creative writing. Keeping still was something that I had to learn. I am still learning.
The second example, I have stated numerous times that meditation is not for everyone. You have to be patient. I am learning the different techniques from this class has helped me to be able to get better with my meditation exercises. And it has helped me with my strength with my religious creator.
The meditation and visualization practices have similar techniques but the final outcome is to be able to connect your mind, spirit, and body together. If you are able to do that then you are on the right track. I feel that I am at the beginning stages of being on this track. I have learned a lot from Professor Dorette, and my fellow classmates and I thank you both.

Practicing The Loving Kindness
Nyanna Threadgill
1. Describe your experience. ( Did you find it beneficial? Difficult?) Why or Why not ?
Would you recommend this to others? Why or Why not?
I found it beneficial I enjoyed the steps of being able to think about myself and focus on some issues that I am dealing with in my life and realizing that with prayer that things can change. I was also able to do some raki healing in the quiet time at the end of the c.d. it was very beneficial to me.
The experience was difficult but at the same time beneficial because I had a opportunity to think of some one in the past. That I needed to let go of some negative anger that I was holding on from that person. So some how I was able to let that go. That was a real opener for me.
When I had to look at a loved one that was in pain that was difficult because I just lost a loved one Last Wednesday. I am still in shock. It was older cousin that I was close with.
I also look at a loved one who is sick and I pray that god gives them the strength to get better everyday. But I know I know in my heart that they are dealing with a lot of battles right know. But each battle we deal with GOD can heal them and make the better. With his healing hands all things are possible.
I would recommend this to others. This would give them an opportunity to write down their thoughts and feelings on self, family, friends, and this can be a begining for healing forthem as this was for me.
2. What is the concept of " Mental Workout" What does the research indicate are the proven benefits of a Mental Work Out ? How can you implement mental workouts to foster your psychological health?
Mental Workout focuses on your psychological state of mind and how you process your thoughts and feelings and how it relates to self and others. I can relate this to my personal growth. By first, journaling my thoughts and feelings.

Reflective Statement Journey Exercise
At first I was not excited about doing the meditation exercise. I have tried it in the past and i had a hard time trying to relax. My surprised. I was able to relax and stay focused. I was able to keep up with my breathing, keeping my eyes closes, and keeping still.
I would recommend this exercise for anyone who once to make their lives a little less stressful. It worked for me. And I was only doing this exercise for less then 30 min.
